Arriving in Tunisia, a friend I met in Tunisia told this story to me – I’ve developed it further and put a little JL Healing into it.
WARNING: Before reading this – please remove any perceptions, understanding of any other meaning and read this passage with absolutely no expectations – no knowledge and OPEN YOUR MIND.
Most people are born alone onto a boat, the only thing you need to do is row towards the right direction. You start rowing, and there would be decisions along the way such as which path to take? The easier path? The harder path? The narrow or complicated path?
As you row, you will find people on the other boats, people rowing too. People might distract you, inviting you to go with them, people might also want to slow you down, speed you up, go at the same pace as you… Some might want to jump onto your boat and some might make you want to jump onto their boat.
While rowing your boat, you will be building relationships. All these different kind of relationships you build are meant to teach you something about yourself. Teaching you things you like, you don’t like, things that make you angry, things that make you happy, things that hurt you, things that make you grow. The toughest lessons that hurt you the most are also the best lesson to teach you about yourself. Be alert, be aware, and take time to reflect. It is when you have time to think, the time to gather your thoughts is when the lesson will come to play.
Many of us are so focused on the result or the final destination – What’s the fastest way to accomplish it? Best way? Know that life is never about the end goal. If it is then it will be about death… about how you die, about how much material things you own when you die.
Read this passage from a book I’m currently hooked on – THE POWER OF NOW.
“Your life’s journey has an outer purpose and an inner purpose. The outer purpose is to arrive at your goal or destination, to accomplish what you set out to do, to achieve this or that, which of course, implies future. But if your destination, or the steps you are going to take in the future, take up so much of your attention that they become more important to you than the step you are taking now, then you completely miss the journey’s inner purpose, which has nothing to do with where you are going or what you are doing, but everything to do with how. It has nothing to do with future but everything to do with the quality of your consciousness at this moment.” – Eckhart Tolle – The power of NOW.
Be aware. Be aware of your thoughts, your powerful mind. Being mindful of what you are doing currently. Take a moment to just breathe – pause from reading this – take a look around you and appreciate the colors, the sound, the sensation of your body from just this pure reflection. This is your first step to understanding YOU. The first step of being AWARE. The first step in the direction of your life purpose.
NAMASTE. PEACE & LOVE.
